Baler, Aurora: My Kind Of Disneyland

Where did you spend last week’s long weekend? I spent mine in my kind of Disneyland — at Baler, Aurora for the Aloha Boardsports & Travel Factor Surf And Music Festival 2011.

I saved my slot roughly a month ago for Php 4600 (per pax, aircon premium package) through Travel Factor. That covers the kit above, accommodations, to and fro fare, festival passes, and couple of meals.

Where I stayed — ATI Hostel

My hostel’s the farthest from the festival grounds (Aliya Surf Camp). Not complaining with the size of my bed! :)

The first night was made out of pure EPIC. I’ve been itching to watch Franco live and the wait was worth it! It was a real treat too because Coffee Break Island playyed the same night and true to my associate’s promise — they’re very good as well (I’ve got Sweet Lovin’ on repeat). I think you can tell from the photo below that somebody enjoyed their set. LOL

Happiness according to us (why yes that’s me eating in the middle of a concert)

Franco’s set was SO INTENSE I have no words to describe it. All I know is that H sung everysinglesong the entire time that he lost his voice after. :)

The waves swelled perfectly the following day. It was such a blessing from the heavens since the SURFVIVOR Challenge IV was also due that day.

I rode those gorgeous, killer waves for an hour (I thought I was going to die after being wiped out twice by a 10-11 footer!) before I hung with old friends. <3

Meet K — she’s my block mate and thesis mate in CSB. She’s an Aussie baby but Baler’s her new home. :)

Our view while enjoying countless slices of fruits, nachos, rocky road and booze:

Just before I packed my bags to go home last Monday, I rode Baler’s waves one more time. Based on the photo above, can you predict my new skin tone? hahahaha

Proof that NSP doesn’t just mean noisy, standing, playing :)

I’m no cola drinker but the waves, the weather, and the festival high made this drink an absolute must.

It’s only been a week since this trip and I cannot wait to go back on Thanksgiving weekend (24-28 November)! Congratulations again to Aloha Boardsports and Travel Factor for an awesome and epic surfing weekend!
