Breakdown of Treats: Majolica Majorca
Posted on Apr 4, 2011 in Beauty
Majolica Majorca cosmetics is the kawaii (Japanese word for ‘cute’) and more affordable subsidiary brand of Shiseido Japan. The spell-like ‘Majolica Majorca’ label was taken from the fantasy legend about a simple bird with a pure heart that wanted all things beautiful. It adorned itself with a collection of attractive, elegant and unique feathers and soon enough, it looked charmingly ravishing. The Goddess of Beauty took notice of the bird’s creativity and courage and was filled with admiration. With this, she cast a powerful spell and uttered “Majolica Majorca!” The feathers accenting the bird’s body all became real and a crown appeared atop of the bird’s head. After this, the bird became an Evangelist of Beauty. The enchanted Goddess said, “Go forth into the world, and make all women beautiful”. This legend is brought to life with the extensive product line of Majolica Majorca that is sure to fulfill every girl’s wish.

Majolica Majorca boasts of a wide selection of make-up suitable for the present day active young woman, professionals and students alike. Similar to a magic potion, these cosmetics are amazingly effective. The products are carefully formulated with selected ingredients, with all of them packed with the knowledge and know-how to make your dream “transformation” come true.

Best-seller #1
Skin Remaker Pore Cover SPF18 – B020 (Php 895)
Skin Remaker Case 2 (Php 450)
A powder foundation that leaves skin silky smooth, with just one stroke, unsightly pores disappear. Skin appears translucent and smooth just like a Porcelain doll.

Touch-feel wise, this powder foundation is up the bunk being so smooth in texture and finish. It’s not too powdery and definitely far from being creamy (think of those Japanese cool and fine finishing powders). I prefer applying (powder/cream/liquid) foundation with a brush and two sweeps of Skin Remaker Pore Cover in B020 (I’d usually wear something lighter like B010 but I’ve developed this delish tan the last coupl’a weeks) gave me this poreless yet dewy, healthy looking mug. The finish sat at the border of being matte and luminous and that’s a big YAY. My skin’s behaving really well these days (thanks to shu uemura red:juvenus intense vitalizing concentrate, retexturizing emulsion, and refining lotion) and I’m enjoying this dewy, translucent complexion. Applying the powder foundation with the sponge gave me this photogenic and super flawless finish that’s been getting compliments everywhere. ;)
EDIT 04/07 — Per request, here’s my mug using Skin Remaker Pore Cover in B020 taken under harsh, natural, and dim lighting respectively. :]

this btw is the closest match to the actual powder colour
pardon the eyebags, I haven’t slept for 20hrs :[

Sweet treats for my peepers:

Best-seller #2
Perfect Automatic Liner – BK920 (Php 695)
Looking for a liquid liner that’s easy to draw with? This is it. Turn dial system for just the right amount every time. One brush and you get defined color. It doesn’t smudge yet can be removed effortlessly.

I’ve been on the lookout for the perfect, smudge-proof gunmetal liquid liner and well…we finally found each other! This liner is SO pigmented that a single stroke definitely does it (making it reasonable for its price). Two “clicks” per eye gave me this super defined gunmetal gray that’s got enough shimmer (ergo made my eyes look more awake). It’s smudge-proof but not waterproof so that might be a setback for some. I tried this for three days in a row and granted my eyes don’t water, it stayed on my lids for 12 hours.
Quick tip: when applying this liquid liner, ensure that you have the right amount the product (on the brush) before swiping on. Going over the drawn line more than twice caused me to have faded spots aka. the common liquid eyeliner dilemma.
Best-seller #3
Lash Expander Frame Plus (Php 795)
Want longer lashes? This smudge proof and water proof mascara is sure to lengthen your lashes giving your peepers a prettier finish. Its long fibers combined with high-grade fluid extended base are sure to coat every strand and hold a curl from day to night.
This is the staple “Phoebe pasalubong” if you’re 1) a good friend of mine and 2) coming home from Japan, HK, or Taiwan. Why? Because this is one of my favourite mascaras of all time! I have sparse, short lashes and this mascara turned things 360 degrees around with just two coats. This is also the longest lasting mascara for me that I can literally cry and swim with and not worry about getting the unwanted raccoon eye effect. The lone gripe? It takes quite an effort to remove. It won’t even budge off with the shu uemura cleansing oil (Fresh variant)! To remove, I use the Majolica Majorca Eyes Reset Gel or Pond’s Cold Cream (soak my lashes for a minute then wipe off).

Jeweling Eyes – BL711 (Php 795)
This Jeweling Eyes palette’s an absolute must-have if you love subtle shimmer on your lids. While all colours’re buttery smooth (YAY), I experienced shimmer fallout the first time I applied it with a brush. After removing the sparkly top surface (a tip I got from a reader from not a long time ago), I was able to unveil this really pretty dish of pastels that’s both photogenic on low light yet office EOTD safe.

Jeweling Eyes – BL711: beige/green/blue/brown
There are 10 Jeweling Eyes palettes available here in Manila and I’m lemming for these:

The last two treats I tried are still loaded with (the beautiful kind of) shimmer:

Rouge Majex #21 (Php 495)
This is my first Rouge Majex and definitely is not my last. It’s pigmented just right, subtly moisturizes, and is oh so non-sticky! Can you tell that I’m putting my much loved but-clings-on-the-hair-like-crazy MAC Lipglasses behind the makeup bin? I’m definitely getting more of these in summer friendly pinks and oranges.

MJ Artistic Nails – PK400 (Php 225)
This is my current mani-savior. If you scroll up and checkout the snaps of Perfect Automatic Liner – BK920, I’m wearing this flat yet bright pink nail polish. I can’t tell which but the day after I got that manicure, I used something on my hair that caused it to have this ugly rubber finish and white cast. I swiped the nail polish above and not only did it give me this surprisingly cute shimmer but also breathed life into my nails!
This isn’t part of the treat box I got but is definitely worth mentioning in this post as well:

Cheek Customizer in RD 255
(with flash)
It’s peach! It’s golden! It’s my summer must-have blush! This decently pigmented and super fine powder blush is an absolute must have if you want a healthy, golden flush of colour on your cheeks. Like the Skin Remaker Pore Cover, this is also sold as a refill for and only cost me Php 495 for 3 grams. What makes it a win? You can getaway with its disposable casing (see above) because it’s got a snap-lock that protects the blush from sliding off inside your makeup kit. That and hello — the golden emblem’s just too pretty to throw out!
WHEW! That’s quite a lengthy and picture heavy post! What other Majolica Majorca products would you like me to road test? :)
