The heat is on and you know it — summer’s definitely just around the corner. With vacations lined up one after another, Avon preps us with the season’s beauty and fashion must-haves.
I received a truckload of products (housed in the Summer Mat In A Bag) from Avon last week and quite frankly, I don’t know where to start (not complaining!). I just picked three items at random and found myself liking them almost immediately.
Ralph Lauren fragrance has a very big space in my heart and boudoir. Romance was my first EDT and I’m on my 10th year love affair with it. I first fell in love (pun intended) with Romance months before I turned 18 because it worked perfectly with my body chemistry. I had the traditional debut ball when I turned 18 and because dear friends and family knew that I loved the scent a lot, I received 3 (one from my dad’s brother and two from college friends) 100ml bottles. :) I got initiated to Ralph a year after and it’s been one of my signature summer scents since then because it instantly whisks me off to the ocean a really expensive vacation by the beach.
This spring, Ralph Lauren once again made its way to my boudoir through their 4-piece Big Pony Women range.

Contemporary life is an exciting, colorful multi-dimensional adventure for a confident young woman. She can no longer be defined by a single aspect of her life. Ralph Lauren celebrates her many facets and accomplishments with The Big Pony Collection for Women, a series of four fragrances embracing dynamic femininity. A new generation of women is leading the way and they now have a fragrance collection to call their own.
Scent is an essential accessory for all of the roles a woman plays. The Big Pony Collection for Women explores four of her vital attributes; Sporty, Sensual, Free-Spirit and Style. Today’s woman should have a fragrance wardrobe to match her multitude of passions and achievements. She coordinates her fashion according to mood and occasion; now she can choose a scent to compliment her every desire.

1 The Sporty Fragrance. Catch her if you can. This Floral Citrus scent features Grapefruit & Blue Lotus for a vibrant, energetic fragrance that evokes confidence and energy while awakening the senses. Confident and fearless, the sporty woman is a natural born leader and ready to take on the world. The sleek blue bottle features a yellow oversized polo pony icon opposite a bold green number 1. 2 The Sensual Fragrance. A Floriental Fruity with the key ingredients of Cranberry & Tonka Mousse, this fragrance is for an alluring flirt with a romantic spirit. Playful and irresistible, this modern woman follows her heart…and she just might break yours. The eye-catching pink bottle is complemented by a green oversized polo pony icon opposite a cool blue number 2. 3 The Free-Spirited Fragrance. Eccentric, rebellious and independent, this Floral Green fragrance highlights Pear & Mimosa. The crisp, bright scent represents ultimate optimism and natural feminine radiance for a woman who dances to the beat of her own drum. Set upon a luminous yellow bottle, the oversized blue polo pony icon contrasts with a bold, orange number 3. 4 The Stylish Fragrance. Edgy and refined, with a flair for the exotic, this Oriental Floral contains key ingredients of Wild Cherry & Purple Amber. Designed for the stylish woman, she catches the eye and imagination of anyone who crosses her path. This purple bottle features a pink oversized polo pony opposite a striking yellow number 4.
Can you guess which one I got? Check this video out and throw your guesses in.
Three weeks ago, I had the opportunity (and time, of all things) to try out Jennifer Lynn’s No Chip UV Gel Polish at this quaint salon in BF Homes called You’ve Got Nail Spa & Studio.
It’s very rare that I get to do this with my staple salon date, Mother Goose. Being stuck with her for hours is something I relish these days because I’m hardly at home with her. :)
MG breaking her #1 rule — no slouching (she justifies with an “I’m lazying around!”)
We both had the manicure & pedicure with scrub prior to the “main event”. All of our attendants were very cautious of our digits and piggies because we cut and bleed easily. Yes — like mother, like daughter.
Choosing which colour I’d be stuck with for weeks was the hardest part about this sweet treat. I chose Avery while MG picked Claire.
The brand Benefit Cosmetics is notorious (in a good way of course) for two things: chic, smoking hot looks and beautiful eyebrows. Raising eyebrows since 1976, I know my eyebrows can be left to them on any day with zero qualms whatsoever. Under the pro hands of one of their local brow experts, Angela, I had my brows done at the Benefit Brow Bar the third time (the first time was in Singapore 5 years ago) two weeks ago.
Their tools of trade. Benefit Cosmetics use Depileve wax for their waxing services. The Pearl Rosin Wax is used for the face since since it’s made for sensitive skin. It is made with natural pine rosin, blended with Mica and Magnolia Oil.
Here are my “before” brows. Messy but bearable. LOL
Happy Monday everyone! :) So sorry that this entry is a full week late. I have a rather unique and valid excuse and I hope you’ll forgive me.
How do you like my orange gel polish?
For more than a month now, I’ve been trying my damn best to put up with this pain in my left ankle. Last week, I just couldn’t take it anymore so I saw an orthopedic. Turns out, my left ankle has something like a torn ligament. Doctor said I could have gotten it from a bad run (since I’ve been training for 10/21 K for a while now). I think I know exactly where I got this from considering it started before I got diagnosed of dengue. Grrrrr.
To cut my excuse letter short, I’m currently wearing a splint and immobile for two weeks. Two weeks of wobbling like a penguin and skipping like a rabbit. I still go to work but come home very tired so I couldn’t really say hi-hello and write here my blog. It’s been almost a week of being tied to my splint and really, it doesn’t get any easier nor better. The pain on my foot is still there (I’m taking meds with it as well) and at this point, I’m just praying for the best because my doctor already warned me that if I don’t get better with this splint, it will be replaced with a cast. Apart from shopping for more dresses (since it won’t fit in my pants), the idea doesn’t even a bit excite me.
I digress. We’re finally down to the last week of this challenge and I’m so excited to share this entry with all of you. Here’s a recap of the snaps I used for the Neutrogena Fine Fairness Best Beauty Forward challenge:
week 1 - week 3
week 2 - week 4
week 5
Round 5 was very easy to guess. Goldi and mrskaya got it right — I was wearing the Neutrogena Fine Fairness BB Cream UV. Since this is the final round, I decided to make it extra difficult (to me at least!). *grins*
the world above the clouds, surrounded by overflowing positive energy, full of colors and full of light.
the same scenery, the same world can look so different, if seen with all your senses full open.
unchain yourself, play with the colors, enjoy make-up, and above all enjoy precious moments that exist in your life.
The shu uemura S/S 2012 Celestial Garden collection’s easily won me over. I used to be very fond of dark, wine hues but there’s something about spring (and orange) hues that I can’t resist. These juicy and fresh tones are so fun, easy to wear, and very versatile. Absolutely perfect for our humid weather (read: so hard to fight meltdown!) and my very busy, insanely fast paced lifestyle.

After weeks and weeks of bumping this and that, I finally got to lock my schedule for a Saturday at the shu uemura Atelier to take the YUME (“dream” or “vision” in Japanese) Advance Make-Up Class. I came to class sleepless (out of excitement!) yet very giddy because it’s supposed to be all about runway and photo shoot tips and tricks. Since we’re encouraged to bring our own tools and makeup to class, I naturally packed my Beauty Pro Cosmetics eye shadow palettes and Charm PRO brush set (both available from Digital Traincase).
The bonus from yesterday’s class? Sophie’s my classmate! :)
The class is outlined into four parts:
(shu uemura) Skincare routine
Make-Up theory
Face structuralization
Introduction to looks
If you would reckon my basic makeup classes from November (blogged here, here, and here), we also tackled parts 1-3. The YUME class also covered the said topics but it was very brief since it assumes that the audience has a fairly advanced knowledge when it comes to both skincare and makeup. Fast forward to part 4, shu uemura internationally accredited make-up artist Sharon Soledad-Malig created the first look on me which is healthy glowing makeup:
Pardon the white cast on most photos — I used a foundation with high SPF plus loaded on the new whitefficient UV under base brightening mousse SPF30 PA++ as base. It’s great as it is, non-sticky and does wake up the skin getting rid of the gray tones in an instant. Sharon used a gorgeous shimmery copper shade all over my lids (which sadly I forgot to buy at the end of the class) plus a highlighter (a very light peach pearl blush) under my eyes and the highest points of my cheekbones to make it pop. My lips are topped with a beautiful cocoa hue (with pink and blue flecks) from the Rouge Unlimited Supreme Shine range called SS BR 760.
