Eye Candy: L’Oreal Super Liners
Posted on Jan 23, 2012 in Beauty
LOreal Paris introduces Super Liner Lasting Crayon (Php 395): a sharpenable pencil in an extremely smooth formula with the ease of application of a traditional pencil liner but the application feel of a liquid eyeliner. This soft gliding formula was built for super long wear: smudge proof, waterproof, no transfer. The result? Bold and beautiful eye contours.
For a deeper and more intense smokey eye look, LOreal Paris provides the easiest solution: Super Liner Smokey Duo (Php 445). This duo eyeliner creates a smokey eye in 2 easy steps.
1st step: Soft crayon liner for exact lining. The easy to blend soft crayon is a waterproof formula with an intense color pay off.
2nd step: Smudger for a natural smokey effect. The other end of the pencil is a gentle smudger for easy blending along the contours of the eyes.
Quick confession: I’ve been using this trio since I got a hold of them last week. Why not when two of them are dupes of my favourite department store eye liners? :)

The first thing I noticed about the Super Liner Lasting Crayon? The texture. If you would checkout the photo before the cut, you’d see a nick on the black eyeliner. I accidentally (out of excitement actually) popped the cover sideways which caused it to get nicked. It’s firm yet somehow still malleable which makes lining both the lids and the waterline an absolute no brainer. There’s also no sting nor tug which makes this a winner in my books. In terms of pigmentation and wear, this gets two thumbs up for me too. The true black and shimmery brown lines lasts the entire day on my lids and waterlines as soon as it sets after less than a minute.
The Super Liner Smokey Duo on the other hand functions differently for me. I like how it’s smartly made for women (and men!) who need smokey eyes in less than 5 minutes. The colour isn’t as dark/black as the Super Liner Lasting Crayon which is a plus for me because that means it’s versatile and buildable. I can imagine using this in the office where heavy rims are discouraged (two lines prior to smudging is enough) and at the same time, taking it out partying with the girls on a chilly Saturday night (five smudged lines should be a showstopper).

It doesn’t come with a sharpener though it would work perfectly with a standard eyeliner sharpener. I’m very partial to my battered 10 year old sharpener from Chanel because it still sharpens like a dream. The shavings also do not break which is a good thing cause 1) there’s less mess and 2) that tells you that the pencil’s crayon and wooden casing’s of good quality.
Super Liner Smokey Duo in Black, Super Liner Lasting Crayon in Black and Brown
Swatching each pencil on my arm twice, I can think of four dupes for Super Liner Lasting Crayon and unfortunately, none for the Super Liner Smokey Duo. Super Liner Lasting Crayon in Black on me’s a dead ringer of Chanel Le Crayon Khol Intense Eye Pencil Noir, MAC Kohl Power Eye Pencil in Feline, and Urban Decay 24-7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Zero while the Brown one looks so much like MAC Powerpoint in Bountiful Brown (my HG brown eyeliner with shimmers which sadly is always OOS here in Manila).

I like the finish of all 3! But I’m quite interested in getting the Super Liner Lasting Crayon in Black. I’ll check it out later! :P
It’s super black! Perfect for a perfectly drawn cat eye! :)
Great review! Thanks for this! :)
Thanks Tin! Glad you found my review helpful. :)
I love the Super Liner Lasting Crayon in Brown! I will definitely check this out! :) I love the shimmer! :)
It’s so pretty! I can’t get enough of it!
There couldn’t have been a better timing for this review! I’m just about on the last sharpenable teeny eeny nth of an inch of my liner (I forgot the label, it was just given to me, all I know is it’s an italian brand) and just about to drain my liquid one(i think i dried out most of it since i still can’t get the hang of applying the liquid version or i might have spent most of it redoing as I can properly follow my eye line contours, :p). Just like a dream, you had me at ‘ease of application of a traditional pencil liner but the application feel of a liquid eyeliner’. I’m checking this one out for sure (once I manage to finish all my programs.. *sigh*)
YAY! Hope these babies work for you! :)
