Great Hair Day (thanks Avon!)

Apart from luxe skin care products, I (generally speaking) do not have second on thoughts blowing my budget on a seriously good hair treatment or an awesome cut. My hair is not the matampuhin type where if I go to a new stylist, it will take forever to grow back to its length. In fact, that’s my problem — my hair grows too fast reason why it’s so expensive to maintain a short and coloured ‘do. My hair’s naturally straight, fine, and almost always limp. Some love it (some stylists even ask me if it’s rebonded because it’s slippery smooth) while I feel it’s almost never great enough reason why I resort to the most luxe brand trusted by hairstylists and personalities worldwide (starts with a K, ends with an E) for serious body and shine.

me and my unkempt tresses, 14 July 2011

When Avon invited me to try their rather promising Advance Techniques hair care range, I just had to go out and take them for a spin. Why not when my shoulder length hair’s eating up about Php 3000 of my monthly budget. EEEP!

Avon Advance Techniques treatments & styling aids (L-R)
Frizz Control Lotus Shield Treatment, Damage Repair Reconstructive Treatment Mask
Keep Clear Leave-on Scalp Treatment, Straight & Sleek Smoothing Crème

Avon Advance Techniques Shampoo Range (L-R)
Daily Shine, Damage Repair, Keep Clear, Straight & Sleek

During the launch, Dennis of Creations Salon (Glorietta 5, Makati City) washed my hair with the Daily Shine shampoo and conditioner then applied half a penny of the Frizz Control Lotus Shield Treatment prior to blow drying. The result?

Holy fudge. Can I have hair this fat, bodacious, and shiny forever? What’s even more amazing’s that its slip and shine lasted for 3 days as promised. On most days, I do not have the energy and patience to style my hair to perfection (like how Dennis did) so I just grab the Straight & Sleek shampoo, conditioner, and smoothing creme whenever I want to achieve tresses like this (no blow drying, just combed down and naturally air dried):

It’s been over a month since I started shuffling this line (the treatments are GREAT) and I’m overall very impressed. While I’m still keeping my luxe brands in tow, I’m glad to have found an alternative that’s not only inexpensive (200ml shampoos start at Php 175) but also gives profit to our friendly Avon ladies. :)

The Avon Advance Techniques Hair Care line featuring Advance Techniques Frizz Control Lotus Shield Treatment is now available through Avon Ladies (call 8642900 or log on to www.avon.com.ph to find one near you) nationwide.

  1. Hi Ms.Phoebe! I’m also using the Lotus Shield Treatment due to Sophie’s post. I lurve the scent! At parang nagplantsa na din ako ng hair kahit hindi naman hehe ;)

  2. i so want the straight and sleek smoothing cream and shampoo and conditioner…rawr!

    • AGHK! Sorry I forgot! Remind me to bring you some when we see each other. :)

  3. I’m trying this one out as soon as I’m done with the current bottle I’m using (sooo inspired by your older posts about having finished certain products). Just hoping the ingredients in these products are not too harsh to cause hair fall. By the way, even the picture of your unkempt tresses has been like my hair at its most behaved after a not so nice coloring situation. Still searching for a product that would restore my crowning glory to its previous state that won’t necessarily put a dent on my pocket. :p Thanks for sharing!
