MAC S/S 2012 Beauty Trend: NOUV-EAU

I love, love, love this disheveled meets luxe trend! Nouv-Eau is all about Art-Nouveau, monochromatic hues, romance, natural brows, glowy skin, lip stains, and soft washes of colour.  Lip staining or tinting the inside of the lips a darker shade than the outside is still very big this season. It’s also the easiest way to try out a bold colour since it’s full-on yet non-intimidating. This trend is so easy to pull off and is very office environment friendly. These are the two looks from this trend I’m dying to try:

Veronique Le Roy

Erdem

Nicole Thompson creating a Nouv-Eau look on Valerie

To recreate the Francesco Scognamiglio S/S 2012 look above, Nicole Thompson prepped the skin with Strobe Liquid Lotion, perfected using Studio Fix Fluid then topped with Mineralized Skin Finish to make the skin shine through the makeup. Brows are “fluffed” into place using a soft fluffy eye shadow brush, some brown eye shadow, and Eye Brows in Lingering. Nicole gave the model a well-blended flush and stained the lips with her fingers using the same blue pink lipstick called Lovelorn. The eyes were primped by mixing together two beautiful eye shadows: Satin Taupe (review here) and Silver Ring. Apart from bringing the eye shadows from the lids to brow bones, it’s the same duo used on the lower lids. The Extra Dimension Powder in a pinkier tone was used to highlight the areas of the face that would catch light first.

  1. I love the Erdem! I don’t really wear make up but I’d like to learn how to do this same clean, polished yet not overly done look :)

    • I can imagine this look being done in less than 10 mins cause all you need to do’s to perfect the complexion and stain the lips. Try it out! :)

  2. I love Erdem too! very polished indeed! pang-office ang peg! :)
