MAC S/S 2012 Beauty Trend: ORE-INSPIRED

Donna Karan/Hussein Chalayan/Emilio Pucci
Just Cavalli/Basso & Brooke/Sass & Bide

This Spring, ORE-INSPIRED asks you to take out all of your prized metals, coppers, rust, and peach to get that enviable glow. This trend is very eighties — liquid tan, sporty, Madonna, lingerie, lace, punches of dark lip and rock-gypsy all over. It’s very fresh, futuristic, simple, and beautiful. These two looks make me want to unearth some precious metals stat:

Blumarine

Elie Saab

Nicole Thompson creating an Ore-Inspired look on Pamela

To recreate a fusion between the Donna Karan and Just Cavalli looks above, Nicole Thompson used a lot of Metal-X Cream Shadow because of its multi-demension shine and zero fallout. She first prepped the skin with Strobe Liquid LotionStudio Fix Fluid, and Fix+ for that enviable flawless, dewy finish. The eyes are primed using (my HG shimmery brown eyeliner) Powerpoint Eye Pencil in Bountiful Brown then blended using a soft eye shadow brush. Rusty, a dirty pink gold Metal-X Cream Shadow, was applied on her eyelids using a 217 brush. Another Metal-X Cream Shadow called Red Hot Copper was used to create an accent just around the outer edges of the eyes. This season’s backstage star aka. Extra Dimension Powder in a golden hue (pictured above) was brushed on the the model’s cheeks, temples, and bow of the lip using a 188 brush to create a gentle yet beautiful contour. The lips required a little bit of work to be achieve that sticker finish. The base colour is a lipstick called Hug Me. It’s topped with Fever (matte) applied using another eye shadow brush called 242 that’s been prepped with Tinted Lip Conditioner in Petting Pink to give that nice glide and product malleability. The kissers were topped with Clear Lipglass to achieve that mirror-like shine.
