When my dermatologist told me that the worst’s yet to come on days 5-7, I shuddered. Part of me couldn’t bear the heat, itching, and well, ugly mug I had no choice but to bring to work on a daily basis. At the back of my head, I was truly hoping that she’s just bluffing. Crossing my fingers a little too hard, I slept on these wild hopes.

Day 5

I was in bliss when I woke up and found out that I finally stopped macropeeling. The discomfort I put up for four days is finally over! While I’m done peeling and itching all over, I still had some pimples that hurt. I was so tempted to self medicate but my EQ won over me (finally!) and I just left it alone, thinking it should go away anyway.

Day 6

It’s day 6 and it’s Friday the 13th. One look at the mirror and I thought – I’m lucky! I’m lucky to have a fresh layer of skin that’s not only fair but also healthy and almost zit free. I have one gripe though: my “secret freckles” have resurfaced (upper nose bridge and right cheeks)! You see for so many years, I’ve lived with a few freckles on my nose and cheeks. I’m not hiding them because I think they’re ugly but because I’m a huge water and outdoors baby and these are the worst conditions to mix with brown spots. It started with just 4-5 dots on my face when I was ten and it multiplied like crazy when I hit my teens. Now you know why I’m nuts about SPF too. :)

Day 7
post-facial with absolutely nothing but sunscreen

It’s been a week since I got the TRUPeel treatment and I was due for a facial still, at the House Of Obagi. Superficially, my skin looked perfect (sorry na, I totally deserve to brag a little because of the pain I endured LOL). Under the discerning expertise of HOO though, I had to undergo what seemed like the longest facial I’ve ever had since my first acne surgery when I was 15. Doesn’t my mug look squeaky clean and fresh? I’ll definitely come back for this facial (this deserves a separate post) cause the amazing step-by-step cleansing buddied up with the precise extraction left my face looking healthy and anew. I didn’t get a single post-facial scar too!

The TRUPeel Aftermath

This is me two weeks after the TRUPeel  treatment with just sunscreen and lip balm on:

I couldn’t be more pleased on how the treatment worked for me. My skin looks absolutely fresh and radiant even with my mad tan (I’ll tell you later how I got this hue) on. I was recommended to get this treatment again after two months for maintenance and I might just do that since July’s weather is a lot kinder vs. May which I think would make the post-treatment care a whole lot easier to bear. By that time too, my birthday’s just around the corner and blowing another candle with a flawless, young looking, and radiant face’s just really the way to go.

HOO TRUPeel Experience: Days 2-4

If I had to choose two words to describe how I felt during the second to the fourth day of the House Of Obagi* TRUPeel treatment it would be nothing but flaming hot! The photos below I believe can very well speak for me:

Day 2

I can still bear the visual but the heat’s starting to kill me (it was 30C outside when I snapped this photo)! My 911 solution: iced my face with clean ice cubes and directed the industrial fan on my mug. It wasn’t exactly blissful but boyyyyy it felt so good!

Braving TRUPeel by the House Of Obagi

Sans much horrid detail, I got into a little mug accident two Fridays ago, May 06. It was so bad it left me crying like a hungry baby, partly scarred, and quite poofed staring at the ugly dark spots left on my face. This incident prompted me to 911 the House Of Obagi (HOO) for a fix, not knowing really, what’s way ahead of me. Jumping with a deep inhale and my eyes partly squinting, I asked Dr. Joven from the SM North branch: “is my skin ready for TRUPeel?”.

TRUPeel (Php 7280) is one of the latest treatments being offered by the House Of Obagi. According to Dr. Joven, it’s a deep chemical peel that’s quite like a cocktail of the finest acids in town: Arbutin, Phytic Acid, Lactic Acid, Retinyl Palmitate, Mulberry Extract, and Mandelic Acid. This treatment aims to not only nix stubborn dark spots and uneven skin tone but also works as a refining treatment as it removes the old, dead skin layer we’ve been long living with (uhm, ewwww). Given the pros and cons (a bad combo of severe redness, macropeeling, and a warm, itchy sensation), I looked at the mirror one more time and said yes, I’m in!
