MAC Huggable Lipcolour Look by Noel Nocillado

Clueless what look to sport on the upcoming red letter day? MAC Philippines’ Noel Nocillado (kenjie2 on Instagram) has a super easy & chic look perfect not just for V-day but right about the entire year.

The center of attention in this taupe & roses look are the lips perfected using the new MAC Huggable Lipcolour (Php 1150/$20). This addition to our lippie army’s super creamy, glossy and pleasantly long lasting. While it promises six hours of wear, I get to sport it in its perfect shape for 2 hours tops. It leaves a gorg stain that never outlines my lips making it a winner for daily use. It’s also gel based which makes it super light yet nicely pigmented.

Here’s the full range to enable your lemming! :)

In the look MAC created for me, they thought that the MAC Huggable Lipcolour in Red Necessity (a deep wine and gorgeously warm hue) perfectly fits my personality. I actually agree! What do you think? :)

An Ode to *THE* MAC 217 Blending Brush

When MAC rocked SM Aura last year, the guests were asked to profess their love affair for the brand by doodling on a wall. I don’t have a photo of myself doing it but here are some of the guests going at it.

The end result? So much MAC love, so much colour!

While I have units in visual arts, sadly, I couldn’t for the life of me draw on canvass (let’s just stick to skin please) to claim that I drew the blue eyes or the bright fuchsia lips. My quip was simple and I got Liz & Rizel (of MAC) to agree:

What’s the MAC 217 (brush) anyway?

For shading or blending of colour or creamy products. This brush has fine, densely packed fibers that are arranged in an oval shape. M·A·C professional brushes are hand-sculpted and assembled using the finest quality materials. They feature wood handles and nickel-plated brass ferrules.

If you’re new to the brand and don’t know where to start, I highly suggest trying out the MAC 217 (Php 1300). Like the famous 187 Duo Fibre Face brush, the MAC 217 brush is one of the most popular brushes sold by the brand. It has a strong following on both MUA circles and Youtube vloggers. Its ultra soft, very dense yet tad fluffy hair which makes blending a breeze even for newbies whether you’re working with powder or cream. If you’re trying to pat and deposit heavy colour, I suggest skipping this and use the MAC 239 instead.

MAC Viva Glam: The Original (plus a giveaway!)

Apart from the pigments, I think my love affair with MAC really began with the VIVA GLAM lipsticks. I thought that as a student (back in 2000), it was my little “do good” thing every December. Now that education concerning HIV and AID’s far more available, every chance I get, I show my support towards the MAC AIDS Fund (MAF) and VIVA GLAM product lines. Since 1994, the MAC Aids Fund has raised $300 million exclusively through your support whenever you purchase a VIVA GLAM Lipstick and Lipglass since they donate 100% of the sales price to support causes that endeavor to fight HIV/AIDS.

In the Philippines, the MAF has partnered with Positive Action Foundation Philippines Inc. (PAFPI). Now on their fourth year as partners, MAC has committed another grant of Php 2,494,000 support PAFPI’s programs that aim to support recovery and ingrain the essential knowledge in infected individuals. Wow. Just wow! :)

Typing the text above has made my heart bob up and down because I know that YOU can help this cause as well. Taking the whole “do good, feel good” mantra a notch higher, supporting this cause will also well, make YOU look good. As mentioned, by restocking or having your first VIVA GLAM lip product will go a long, long way. Now with two formulas and multiple hues, there’s definitely a VIVA GLAM for all of us. For starters, you can’t go wrong with the original — VIVA GLAM 1.

The original VIVA GLAM girl is back! Fabulous, chic and utterly outrageous. The electric RuPaul, first face of VIVA GLAM in 1994, now returns with her sexy signature burgundy red Lipstick and a new Lipglass, universal in glamour and appeal. Every cent of the selling price of VIVA GLAM – The Original goes toward helping women, men and children living with and affected by HIV/AIDS.

Tutorial Tuesday: Prime Makeup Look

The Perfect Prime Look by Bobbi Brown

We’ve all heard about prime makeup but really, is it just the 5-minute no makeup look? After blogging for some 8 years now, I can definitely say otherwise. Over the course of 8 years, my skin’s gone through a lot of changes ranging from different sorts of breakouts, the dreaded appearance of fine lines, extreme tanning (both from a bottle and au naturelle thanks to surfing), occasional brightening and various dermatologist-approved procedures (acne surgery, RF and chemical peeling). These changes prompted me to shuffle a lot of products just to achieve the prime look for both work and play.

I’m sure you can tell that based from the photo above, the first thing we need to achieve this look is to have impeccably clear and toned skin skin. What if you don’t have the luxury of time to achieve so through skin care? Are all hopes gone?
